What is medically wrong with this guy??

Passing through the Narita, Japan airport. This poster caught my eye. It was outside of the health & quarantine station.

I think Westy had this disease once...............

Wellcome to the China Club......

In China again. 2 things to report so far.

1. No matter how hard you train or how much game you have on the bike, you will never be as burly as the dude hauling pillows on his bike riding the wrong way in traffic on a busy highway in Shenzhen, China.

2. Motivational posters in Chinese factories rock. Not sure what this dude is saying, but he looks like a futuristic superhero scholar egg.

WTF?

Jose Guillen, MLB Baseball player busted for steroids = 2 week suspension
Floyd Landis, UCI Cyclist busted for steroids = 2 year suspension

Where is WADA on that one???

Child Abuse

Ok, so I stole this idea from Mrs. Lozano, but couldn't resist posting this pic. Here's what I assume will happen to this baby:

This kid is going to probably kick your kids ass in high school, but......... he'll go on to, and then drop out of, community college after he knocks up his girlfriend (for the second time) at 19. He'll find a nice job at Jiffy Lube. Once they get a double wide somewhere in Fife, he'll have just enough left over for a used Harley that doesn't run. Needing money to fix it up (and maybe get a jet ski), he'll start making meth out of the shed in their back yard. After finishing his prison sentence for selling meth, he'll get out as a born again Christian and devote his life to "saving" others by riding that busted up Harley around to visit various youth groups and cub scouts..........and taking this same pic of his kid.

That's why they make you take history in school. So you don't repeat the same mistakes over and over and over!

NEW TEAM

So after a storied history at my old cycling team, I've moved on. Lots of good memories, but sometimes you just need a change. My new team has this motto:
"We are more than a drinking team - we are a bike racing team."

How can I pass up the chance to race with them!?!?!? Plus, I got to head up the design of the kits for 08 and they are going to rock. Much better than all those other teams that look like hydroplanes or stunt planes. Stay tuned for more on that.......for now its top secret! When we show up to Mason Lake next season, there's going to be some jealousy!

I'll leave you with a pic from China promoting cleanliness at a factory in China. Note how one guy is crawling into a giant hydraulic press. Cleanliness over safety!
All for now.

The P in PBR stands for Peoples Rebublic of China!

For those of you who aren't tuned into my pseudo jet setting lifestyle, I spend 2 weeks or so every 2 months in China for work. Kills the fitness and China sucks more than you can imagine (I don't go to Beijing or anywhere cool, its pretty much the Federal way of China).

But you do find rad things every now and then like a cold PBR in a gas station tucked in amongst strange Chinese beer.

I also found these rad flip flops with a double rip off of brands not done so well..

ROCK!

ROB
HANK

Who is more glam rock? Hank from Hell of Turbonegro or Rob Halford of Judas Priest?
Quote from Hank: "Do you like plants, Hank?". On this Hank replied "No, but I've been addicted to one".
Best Song Title: Everybody loves a chubby dude
Quote from Rob: "There's two kinds of music - heavy metal and all the crap they play on radio and show on MTV."
Best Song Title: Caviar and Meths

Idiot of the week

Standing on a box downtown shouting about Jesus and holding signs? Do you REALLY think that someone is going to see this and join your Jesus Crusade??

A wise man once told me "Why would you want to go to heaven when all the people trying to get there suck and all the cool people are going to hell??" This guy pretty much sums it up.

Red Bull Derby

Derby car shaped like a salmon. So typically Northwest!!

Went to the Red Bull soap box derby this weekend. Wasn't sure what to expect, but it was pretty damn cool. If they have it again next year, me and the boys form the lab are so totally up in that!

Anyway, it was in Freemont. Cool place, but at a crossroads of tech companies and fruity hippies. At public events like this, you're bound to see idiots like this........

Don't wear a wizard hat. It's not funny or cute, you just look like a middle aged gamer dork who's kids are embarrassed to be with him.
Why the hell are you dressed up like a tree? You were walking around scaring children!! Every time this freaky earthy lesbian street performer in a tree outfit got next to a kid, it cried. Wearing 25 pieces of metal on your head and banging them with sticks is not music, its noise. The dirty beard, hard hat and smell of dead opossum didn't help either.

2 things.......

#1 - Its a skirt, unless you are Scottish. Then it is a kilt. Outside of Scotland, you are wearing a dress. (why do 90% of non-Scottish dress wearers have beards???)

#2 - Fixed Gear bikes are for the track. You are a retard if you ride one on the street. You are a retard AND a poser if you have super tiny handlebars and pink Deep V's with cards in your wheels.

All for now.

Is rap dead???

I listened to some shitty music in the 80's (anyone remember Cameo??), but the level that rap has sunk to has got to be an all time low. Think back when Metal died, soft rock at its height and other genres of music that suddenly went away. They got sooooo bad that you had to stop listening. The 3 songs below epitomize the downfall....

A bay bay: http://www.lyricwiki.org/Hurricane_Chris:A_Bay_Bay
Party like a rock star: http://www.lyricwiki.org/Shop_Boyz:Party_Like_A_Rock_Star
Soulja boy:http://www.lyricwiki.org/Soulja_Boy:Crank_That

What happened to groups like Tribe Called Quest, Erik B and Rakim, hell even 50 Cent? Give me something with substance.............and push Lil' John under a bus! No more crunk, no more rap dances, no more giant jerseys.

Last race of the year

Just realized that my only other bike posting was from my first race this year, waaaaaaaaay back in March. Here's a shot from wheelsinfocus.com of me from my last race of the year a few weeks ago, leading out my main man Bing-diggity. Did a few other random weekday races, but that's all for skinny tires this season. Might hit a few cross races to keep the fitness rolling through October, then its rest (aka get drunk lots with Sundt) time. It was

a fun season with loads of chill guys on the team to race with. No wins for me for the first time in a few years, but some solid placings. Given the fact that I was putting in 4-5 hours training per week as opposed to the 12-15 in years past, that's not too shabby.

All for now. See you on the cross course.

Dick on counter

So at the gym, there's these old dudes who are about as clueless as it gets. When they dry their hair, shave or brush their teeth, they stand there with no towel on. While leaning over the counter, their dick is dragging all over the sink area (see attached diagram). How nasty is that? They they usually walk away without wiping the counter down. Come on man!!?!? I don't want to lean up against your junk residue, even if it is only touching my towel, NASTY!!! Put a damn towel on!!!

Dopers!!!

Are you fucking kidding me!?!?!?? You even mention steroids and a riders name in cycling and they get booted. You admit to it and get off no strings attached in baseball. If cycling and baseball had the same rules, maybe Floyd Landis can go high five some retarded kids at a group home and then he can race again. Baffling. At least we can all find the humor in Barry Bonds rookie card show above.

“Earlier in the day, commissioner Bud Selig announced he won't punish Giambi because of the slugger's charitable work and cooperation with baseball's steroids investigator. Giambi has acknowledged a "personal history regarding steroids." He agreed to speak with former Sen. George Mitchell last month after Selig threatened to discipline him if he refused to cooperate. "He's doing a lot of public-service work, and I think that's terribly important," Selig said. "I think it's more important for us to keep getting the message out. He was, I thought, very frank and candid with Sen. Mitchell, at least that was the senator's conclusion. Given everything, this is an appropriate decision."

Addition: The added pic of the football player pretty much confirms steriods, HGH and whatever else those idiots are juiced up on. This guy is a WIDE RECEIVER! Back in the day, Steven Largent (5'11" 187lbs) was a wide receiver. This dude is massive (6'2" 240lbs), plus he's widely known as an asshole. Go football!! Where's the suprise doping control agents here??

2 things.........

2 things I will never do:

1 - Wear "Crocks" shoes
2 - Wear a blue tooth headeset

All for now. More soon.

TUBA MAN IS GOING IN!!!

Went to the M's game with Hull, Rick and Johan last night. As expected, it turned out to be a drunken fest. Still pulling popcorn and peanut shells out of my hair. Best part of the night (aside from the M's winning 4-2) was running into Tuba Man! He is a legend at sports games. Every local game (Sonics, Mariners, Seahawks, etc,), he camps out front playing the tuba. Somehow, he gets a ticket and ends up inside. once in, he stands the entire game, dancing/marching to each song. He so rules.

Baby Jessica

I work with this dude who summed his life up in 4 events. Dude cracks me up every day.
  • Baby Jessica in the well

  • Mt. St. Helens eruption

  • Hurricane Katrina and the super dome
  • Paris Hilton in Jail

We watched a video of Baby Jessica 20 years later (who is now 21, married to a 45 year old dude with a kid of her own - true redneck style). She danced her own baby on the well she fell in. Wow.

Here's the official commemorative painting of the event (yes, believe it, an official commemorative painting!)

Oh yeah, one more thing....

This is JOD's seat belt. Not only is half of it broken and not attahed to anything, the other half is tied in a knot! Add in the 57 dents on his car and you get the picture.............

New posting!!!

Lots of folks ask when I'm going to post something new. Since I've got nothing better to write about and the fact that everyone wants to know how Sundt is doing.......I'll post this pic. Looks like Jonny is doing well indeed.

RACE SEASON!!!

So I got talked into racing this weekend by Westy and Bob. Was not too into it, as it was cold and somewhat rainy (not to mention I had to get up at 6:30am!!). My fitness sucks as I haven't trained as much as I'd like this season and the travel has been kicking my ass. So I let everyone know in the parking lot before the race started that I have no fitness and just want to sit in the pack. Well race starts, a break goes 10 minutes in and who goes with it....me. Thought it'd last a few minutes. It ended up lasting the whole race!!! We shed 4 or 5 guys through out and on lap 4 of 5, I flatted!!! WTF?!!?! Shitty luck I guess. Chased for 7/8 of a lap solo and got caught by the pack with 2k to go. Oh well. A guaranteed top 5 turned into DFL just like that. But, hey, it's only Mason lake. Plenty of time for more racing this year.

Rode 4 hours with some teammates yesterday in the 70' weather. Shorts and short sleeves!! YES!!!!! Today, it's rainy and cold as usual.

Off to Chicago this weekend for a trade show, so no racing. Show should be fun. Big party for my companies 25th anniversary. I t should rock.

Frankfurt

So just got back from Frankfurt, Germany. I'm glad to be back home and my liver is even happier to be home. 8 days of party time is rough , even for a seasoned veteran like me. Slept more on the plane coming home than I did while there.

Check out the only 2 photos I have. One in our hotel bar with "Das Hounds". The bar folks loved us. We capped off each night there and entertained them with our witty banter (re: drunkenness). Also a pic of my favorite clothing store there, "Wormland". Kind of like a Barneys, but German. They've got all the cool shit, plus some dissed German techno crap. When in Rome............

Exercise went to shit. No bike, some running, but mostly drinking, eating and standing at a show booth in a smoky trade show hall. The show kicked ass and our company is far more awesome than the others there that it makes it easier for all, no matter how tiring it was.

Did get out today for almost 5 hours on the bike. Can you believe this weather here?!?!? Sunny and nearly 60 degrees!! How awesome is that? Didn't even phase me that I blew out a tire and had to walk to the bike shop and stepped on my glasses in process. On a piss rainy day, I'd have chucked my bike in a ditch!! I'm pretty beat now, but generally psyched with my fitness, considering I haven't seen a bike in 3 weeks except in magazines.

Best part of the ride was some crusty old man telling us "you boys look cute in your outfits" in sort of a Deliverance way. I told him that the only one he has a chance with is Seth.

All for now. Good to be back. Need a nap.

Travel, rain, Travel and ???

Got back late last week from another trip to HK. Spent 10 days soaking up the pollution and decent weather.....and loosing fitness. The pic above is a new factory that is opening soon. The shacks are where the construction crew lives. The background used to be a hill. If you need flat ground, just dig up the hill and put it somewhere else!!
Mr. Buddy got in some crazy fight with a raccoon or possum while I was gone. Ended up with some stitches and a shaved leg. I think he's pissed off because the other cats are clowning him.
Got back on the bike Saturday and headed out with the team on the good bike, as the weather was nice. Well, 1/2 way through that, the rain started and I ended up drenched. Did manage 3+ hours. Headed out solo the next day on the wet pavement. The pic above shows what soaking wet dirt, sand and crap does to your bike.

Off to Frankfurt tomorrow. More travel, but looking forward to it. Should be fun to get G'd up in the suit and talk shop with our customers.

More from Germany soon.

Westover on TV!!!

I was just flipping channels and came across a show called "Beauty and the Geek" on TV. I haven't heard from Steve in a week or so and now I know why! He's on that show!! Check out his picture from their website!!

Happy New Year!!!

Lets see, where to start here. Hmmmm......

How about boring bike stuff? OK. Got in some good rides the last week. 4+ hours on a few occasions and 3+ on a couple of others. Felt pretty strong (except when Sundt is with us). Even got KC out on the bike twice! I also took a shot at Todd Herriots strength training class. That shit was hard! On top of that, I learned I can't jump rope for shit! I felt like a one legged retard. It was a great class though. Definitely going back again.

OK, on to new years celebrations. Spent the evening at No. 2's. It was entertaining, but when you mix 2 Clishams with a Sundt and a Dickson plus some alcohol mixed in, it's always entertaining (for us)!!! Some pics are attached for enhanced viewing pleasure.
Got the Hawks game coming up Saturday night. That should keep the BAC level up to my normal functioning levels. Hopefully they can get a run together and win it all. I don't want to have to see No.2 cry again if they don't!

Oh yeah, I won our work fantasy football league. Crushed Adam in the Superbowl!!

All for now. More later.

Still Funny.........

Gaggioli suspended for remainder of the season
US based professional cyclist Roberto Gaggioli (Monex) has been suspended for the rest of the season by USA Cycling after a disciplinary hearing found him guilty of assaulting another competitor at a race on May 1, 2004. The incident happened at the Cheaha Challenge event in Anniston, Alabama, where Gaggioli had an argument with Jonny Sundt after the race, which led to Gaggioli attacking Sundt with a 2x4. Sundt defended himself with his bicycle, which was damaged in the process.
The disciplinary hearing was conducted on May 28 with representatives from USA Cycling, the UCI, Roberto Gaggioli and Jonny Sundt present. The outcome of the hearing was that Gaggioli received a ban from participating in any USA Cycling or UCI events from May 31 to December 31, 2004. The ban includes participating as a rider or a manager, although he can show up as a spectator.
"Unfortunately, there have been other incidents where riders have fought at a cycling event," USA Cycling's chief of staff Sean Petty told Cyclingnews. "It's a disturbing trend this year where we have seen several fights recently. There is no place for this type of behaviour in cycling or any other sport.
"We hope that suspending Mr. Gaggioli and any others involved in instigating fights at USA Cycling events will send a message that we take these matters seriously and will take action no matter who the rider is.

Merry Christmas!!

Here's a picture of me at 4 years old with Santa. Look how psyched I am to be there. Merry Christmas!!

WIND STORM 2006!!!

Man, there was some crazy ass wind on Thursday night!! 70mph gusts in the city and 2 1/4" of rain in one day, both records for Seattle. The city is a mess. Power was lots to 1.5 million people and debris was everywhere. Lost power at home for the entire day Friday. Bob and others still don't have power (sucks even more that it's 32' out now!).

We rode the lake today and went over Juanita. It was a total mess. Trees, power lines, smashed cars, and crap all over the road. The picture above is of Bob and Anton standing next to an uprooted tree from my cell phone. The tree was massive, check out the size of its roots!

It's much calmer out now, but still cold. Looking forward to getting a few more hours in tomorrow on the bike. Felt pretty good today considering I've been off the bike for 2 weeks.

RAIN!

Goddammit!!! The freaking rain here never stops! After a record month, we've got insane wind storms with crazy amount of nasty downpours. Check out the radar image from weather.com. The giant red spot is on top of us now. There's a huge river of sludge headed down all three lanes outside and the traffic is totally stopped. Can't wait to head out and drive in this stuff. So much for riding this weekend.

Mr. Buddy hates winter

Here's a picture of the street outside my house. 1" of solid ice. Extra sketchy driving.

Check out Mr. Buddy on his post. He sits here and stares out the window all pissed off. He hates the cold almost as much as I do.

The good news is the winter storm is over!!! I can actually ride outside this weekend. Hopefully I'll get 6-7 hours without getting pissed on by rain. Mr. Buddy can go out and fight raccoons again.
