Crits, Crits and more Crits!!

4 days, 3 crits!

First off was the state crit championships in our capitol. Other than the super blown out pavement, man hole covers and random posts on the back stretch, it was a fun course. Pretty much tail gunned a hung on for 20th. Chicken Alfredo won with BHZ in 2nd!!! 1-2 for Broadmark! Sweet! Westover got dropped after 15 minutes. Funny.

Next day was a new crit in lovely Des Moines. I headed out early for the masters A/B race at 9:30am. The course was a big rectangle with an uphill finish and fast corners. Was far more active than the previous day. Got in a few moves and chased a bunch of stuff down. In the end, when one team has 9 guys (we only had 2), they usually win. I ended up 12th and TO held on for 6th I think.

Today was the annual Joe Matava crit in Burien. I felt waaaaaaaaaay better than the 2 previous races. I think that my legs are finally back! Attacked the shit out of the pack with others from my team. Went for (and won) a prime with 6 to go. BHZ countered that for a prime on the next lap (which he won) and there were 5 of us off the front. Well, the others with us were a bunch of bitches, got scared and gave up. Back in the pack, I bumped elbows to stay at the front and went into the last lap in 12th or so. Looking up I saw BHZ and Chicken Alfredo up front. I jumped out of the pack and hit the gas. I dropped in front of BHZ into corner 1, through corner 2 and up the slight riser on the back stretch. I left him there to fend for himself and he delivered the victory!! We talked before the race and he said that all he wanted was to get up the hill and he would take it from there. Worked like a charm! Not many dudes I can think of deserve a win like he does. Glad I could help him get it.

Seward Thursday and 2 more races next weekend. Glad the legs are going strong again!

Happy 4th! Don't blow your hand off with firecrackers.
