Bike to Work Day!!!

Biked to work today. It's official "Bike to Work Day" today. Saw lots and lots of cyclists of all skill levels out riding. Pretty cool to see. Picked up my BTWD waterbottle to commerate the occasion. I've got them dating back to 1999. With big sponsors like Starbucks and others, looks like folks are actually aware that people ride bikes! Good to see everyone organized and having fun. A great thing for cyclists and others.

Conversely, the worst thing for cycling is "Critical Mass" A bunch of blown out semi-homeless hippies on clown bikes. Never seen one of them on a bike outside of critical mass. It's like a rave on wheels. Picture burning man festival goers, but on bikes and in your way. They are not doing anything to further the cause of cycling and peaceful existence on the roads. Pretty much just pissing people in cars off. Which is super awesome (insert sarcasm here) when I'm riding by myself obeying the laws of the road. Was finishing a training ride one day and got held up by them. A cop looked at me and said "you with them". I said "nope". He said "didn't think so".

Can't say I wouldn't be too bothered to see an 18 wheeler take them all out.

Critical Mass link is below. The website talks about furthering the cause of cycling and not tying up traffic, etc. Great put this in print, but it never happens in real life. Just a bunch of jokers on the street. They are mostly missing the point of the whole thing and should probably read this before heading out for their ride next time.
